Lawyer: Russian court arrests 1 bln rbl of Domodedovo’s property
MOSCOW, Jun 22 (PRIME) -- The Basmanny District Court of Moscow has arrested 1 billion rubles worth of property of the Domodedovo airport in the framework of a case against its executives, lawyer for the victims of the 2011 terrorist attack in the airport Igor Trunov told PRIME on Wednesday.
“The court has satisfied a claim by investigators and has arrested the property of the airport for 1 billion rubles. Prosecutors were objecting this,” Trunov said.
Trunov also said that the Investigative Committee has submitted a claim for arrest of Domodedovo’s banking accounts but not on initiative of the victims whose interests he represents.
“A claim to arrest Domodedovo airport’s banking accounts has arrived to the Basmanny District Court of Moscow. Prosecutors object to it,” Trunov said.
According to Trunov, representatives for the victims and for beneficiary owner of the airport Dmitry Kamenshchik were not allowed to participate in consideration of the account arrest claims. “We do not even understand who could be interested in the account arrest when all victims have withdrawn their claims.”
Kamenshchik was put under home arrest on February 19 under a new criminal case to punish people whose inaction could have caused the explosion in Domodedovo in 2011. An older case which followed the explosion was closed in late 2015 on no evidence of Domodedovo executives’ guilt and uncertainty about the real beneficiaries of the airport due to its complicated ownership structure.
Criminal cases were also started against executives of the airport.
Kamenshchik announced a program of loss compensation to victims of the attack through what he called a charity fund in May. He pled not guilty.
